Situation Analysis in North Uganda

Northern Uganda has experienced profound suffering and displacement of the population because of prolonged armed conflict between the Government of Uganda and the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in the last two decades. This slowed down the social and economic development of the Northen region, but also created significant regional disparities within the country. The peace talks in Southern Sudan which culminated into the signing of the historic Cessation of Hostilities Agreement created optimism amongst different stakeholders. Improved security, greater freedom of movement and increasing access to land has sparked off large-scale voluntary movements within the region. The Government of Uganda has restated its commitment to recovery and development of Northern Uganda through accelerating the launch of the Peace, Recovery and Development Plan (PRDP) which is the overall strategic framework for interventions in Northern Uganda for the last years.

consequently, the area is now undergoing a process of transformation within the overall time frame of transition from relief to development, but many Communities were left out because   of poor management of Government funds by some local Leaders.

Third Hope Uganda comes in because we are rooted in the power of forgiveness, love and the strength of a shared humanity to have the courage to plan again, to restore the land and rebuild ruins. We believe in the potential of humanity to receive healing and to live again in the face of despair; it is the Hands that can reform communities through reconciliation and belief in higher principles, rooted in humanity and trust in one another.

Third Hope Uganda History

Third Hope Uganda (THU) was founded in 2005 by Patrick Ojera who grew up in the insurgency in Northern Uganda. The conflict denied him the opportunity of a better Education and livelihoods in his childhood in Uganda.

With a deeper passion for Orphans, former child soldiers, Child Mothers and vulnerable children, he was moved to form an organization (Third Hope Uganda) that can provide care, rehabilitation, and education for Orphans and Vulnerable communities in Uganda.

Our work began with the deeper conviction that every child earns a chance of a safe, fulfilling life. In Northen Uganda in particular, many children experience violence, poverty and exclusion. We see it as our task to give you perspectives through direct and long -term help. We serve people in needs with mostly Vulnerable Children and Child mothers in Uganda, South Sudan and DRC. through provision of clean drinking Water, education, medical help, evangelization, discipleship and Traditional support.
